How to start browsing
To start browsing:
- Type a URL such as
www.avast.com
, or a search term likeSafeZone browser
, into the combined address and search bar. - Click a Shortcut tile.
Navigate with the combined search and address bar
The combined search and address bar:
- Navigates your browser to web addresses you type (for example,
www.avast.com
). - Allows you to query popular search engines and websites, like Google and Amazon.
- Shows you information about pages you visit.
- Lets you quickly save content to your bookmarks using the heart icon.
Predictive search suggestions appear below the combined search and address bar as you type, and can be filtered by search engine tabs on the lower-right.
Organize multiple pages with tabs
SafeZone can organize multiple pages into one browsing window using tabs.
To open a new tab, click the + button on the tab bar.
Preview a tab's contents
Hover your mouse over a tab to preview its contents. You can disable tab previews:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Browser on the sidebar.
- Under User interface, tick the Show tab previews checkbox.
Close tabs
To close a tab, hover your mouse over the tab and click the X button. To close all tabs, except your current tab, right-click the current tab and select Close Other Tabs.
Pin tabs
You can prevent SafeZone from closing tabs accidentally by pinning tabs. To pin or unpin a tab to the tab bar, right-click the tab and select Pin Tab/Unpin Tab. When pinned, the tab moves to the left side of the tab bar.
Manage tabs
To move an open tab to a separate window, simply drag and drop the tab off the tab bar. Tabs can also be dragged between open windows.
To open a copy of a page in a new tab, right-click the tab and select Clone Tab.
You can reopen tabs from the Recently closed list in the main menu.
View more options with context menus
Context menus appear when you right-click a part of a webpage. A different menu appears depending on the element type: page, text, link, image, or form.
The page context menu appears when you right-click a part of a webpage where there are no links, images, or forms. This menu provides navigation options (go back, forward or reload the page), options for saving the page as a Shortcut or Bookmark, viewing the source code of the page, and more.
The link context menu appears when you right-click a link and lets you decide how to open or save the linked document or address.
The image context menu appears when you right-click an image and contains multiple options for opening, copying, and saving the image.
When you click an image that has a link, a menu appears that combines items from both the image and link menus.
Make text more readable by zooming
To zoom from the main menu, click the left or right arrows next to the word Zoom.
To set the default zoom:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under Display, click the Page zoom drop-down menu.
- Select how small or large you prefer the page to be zoomed.
Get more screen space
SafeZone lets you browse with more screen space in full-screen mode. Full-screen mode removes the menu bar from view.
