Enable Autofill to complete web forms automatically
If you enable Autofill, SafeZone can complete common forms for you online.
To enable Autofill:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Privacy & security on the sidebar.
- Under Autofill, tick the Enable auto-filling of forms on web pages checkbox.
To add information for SafeZone to use when automatically filling in forms, click the Manage Autofill settings button.
Manage camera and microphone access in web pages
Some sites may ask you to access your computer's camera or microphone.
By default, SafeZone always asks you to allow a site to access your camera or microphone. SafeZone remembers your choice for secured HTTPS sites.
To always deny sites access to your camera and microphone:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under Microphone, select Do not allow sites to access my microphone.
- Under Camera, select Do not allow sites to access my camera.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
You can also set which microphone or camera SafeZone uses by default, if more than one is connected to your computer. Use the drop-down menus to set your media preference.
Manage cookies in web pages
Cookies are small data files that store information in connection with a website. For example, a cookie may be created to store the contents of an online shopping basket, or to confirm that you are logged in as you browse the pages of a site.
Cookies can be used to construct a profile of your browsing habits, and therefore may be regarded as a privacy issue.
Set your cookie preferences
Setting preferences gives you control of how SafeZone handles cookies. The default settings is to accept all cookies. To change this:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Privacy & security in the sidebar.
- Under Cookies, select an option for handling cookies.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
Manage images in web pages
You can control how SafeZone handles images on web pages. You can choose whether or not to display all images, and set site-specific image preferences. To change image settings:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under Images, select an option for handling images.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
Manage JavaScript in web pages
JavaScript is a scripting language used to add functions to web pages. In rare cases, JavaScript may be used intrusively to perform certain actions. You can turn it off completely, but some web pages may not work as designed.
To change JavaScript settings:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under JavaScript, select an option for handling JavaScript.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
Manage desktop notifications
Desktop notifications display information about the activity of apps or websites on your computer's desktop. They can alert you to things like new emails, special coupon offers, or if comments are posted to your blog.
You can control how sites deliver notifications. By default, SafeZone asks you if you want a site to notify you. SafeZone remembers your choice for future visits to that site. To change settings:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under Notifications, select an option for displaying desktop notifications.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
Manage saved passwords
By default, SafeZone offers to save your passwords when you log in to a website. To disable this offer:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Privacy & security on the sidebar.
- Under Passwords, untick the Offer to save passwords I enter on the web checkbox.
To edit your saved passwords and settings:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Privacy & security on the sidebar.
- Under Passwords, click the Manage saved passwords button.
Manage plug-ins in web pages
Many multimedia files on the web require third-party software, known as plug-ins, to be played. A common example is a media player to play videos or music. When a page needs a plug-in that is not installed, SafeZone offers to download the plug-in for you or take you to a site to download it.
By default, SafeZone automatically runs plug-ins that are installed on your computer. To change plug-in settings:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under Plug-ins, select an option for handling plug-ins.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
To disable plug-ins, and prevent SafeZone from running them, click Disable individual plug-ins.
Click the Disable button to prevent SafeZone from using the plug-in. The plug-in remains on your computer but is disabled.
Install and configure the Java plug-in
Some web pages require Java to display content properly.
To install Java, download the latest version from the Java website. Click the Agree and Start Free Download button to begin downloading the set-up file. Then, open the set-up file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Manage pop-ups in web pages
SafeZone tries to distinguish pop-ups that you requested, such as log-in pages, from pop-ups launched automatically from websites, such as advertising.
By default, SafeZone blocks pop-ups you did not request. To change pop-up settings:
- From the main menu, select Settings.
- Click Websites on the sidebar.
- Under Pop-ups, select an option for handling pop-up windows.
Click the Manage Exceptions button to set site-specific preferences.
