File System Shield - Advanced
Manage these settings at: Menu ▸ Settings (gear icon) ▸ Active Protection ▸ File System Shield ▸ Customize ▸ Advanced
The File System Shield analyzes files and programs to be sure they are safe before they are run or modified.
To speed up performance, Avast default settings eliminate unnecessary scanning of certain files.
Verified clean files are operating system files, files signed by trusted publishers, or other whitelisted files. These typically do not pose security risks.
Options
- Do not scan verified system DLLs - Verified system library files (.dll) are not scanned
- Use transient caching - Files already verified and marked as clean are not rescanned, until the next system restart or virus definitions update.
- Use persistent caching - Files already verified and marked as clean are kept in permanent memory and are not rescanned; not affected by system restart.
- Optimize scanning during file copy operation - Copied files are scanned only after copying is complete.
