Firewall Logs

The Firewall Logs screen displays a record of Firewall activity history. All activities fall into one of the following two categories:

View records about Blocked Traffic

Select Blocked Traffic from the drop-down menu next to Show log for at the top of the table. For each logged activity in the table, you can see the following information:

  • Time: the date and time that the activity occurred.
  • Remote address: the IP address of the external server or other network device connected with the blocked traffic.
  • Remote port: the network port number for the remote address connected with the blocked traffic.
  • Local address: the IP address of your computer‘s network interface on which the traffic was blocked.
  • Local port: the network port number for the local address on which the traffic was blocked.
  • Protocol: the network protocol used by the blocked traffic.
  • Direction: the blocked connection type (incoming In or outgoing Out).
  • Application: the program or system process from which traffic has been blocked.
  • Rule: the Firewall rule that blocked the traffic.

View records related to applied Rules

Select Rules from the drop-down menu next to Show log for at the top of the table. For each logged activity in the table, you can see the following information:

  • Time: the date and time that the activity occurred.
  • Message: details of the activity including any related files or locations.

Search for specific records

To search for a specific activity, select the activity type (Rules or Blocked Traffic) from the drop-down menu next to Show log for, then perform one or both of the following steps, as necessary:

  • Next to Show for last, specify a time frame by typing a number into the text box and using the drop-down menu to select a unit of time. For example, type '2' and select 'weeks' to search for activities that were logged in the last 2 weeks.
  • Tick the Filter box and provide criteria for your search in the text boxes that appear. Each text box corresponds to the column (field) directly below it. For more information about a field, refer to the sections above.

Click Refresh to update the log according to your newly defined criteria.
