Manage these settings from: Settings ▸ Subscription

The Subscription screen summarizes your subscription information for Avast Antivirus, Passwords, Cleanup, and SecureLine VPN.

Avast Pro Antivirus, Avast Internet Security, and Avast Premier can be downloaded and used free of charge for a 30-day trial period. After the trial period, you need to purchase a license to continue program service. Avast premium products, such as SecureLine VPN, Cleanup and extra Passwords features also require a paid license.

To purchase a license in the Avast Store, click Buy Now on the main Avast screen, or visit the official website www.avast.com/store.

Note: Alternatively, you can right-click on the Avast icon in the system tray and select Subscription information to open the Subscription screen.

Activate your protection

If Avast Antivirus is already installed, your license activates directly on the same PC after purchase in the Avast Store by clicking Activate license.

You can also activate your program manually with an activation code or a license file which you receive in the confirmation e-mail after your Avast purchase. Follow these steps to manually activate your program:

  • An activation code (for Avast Antivirus, Passwords, and Cleanup):
    1. Scroll to the product you want to activate and click Insert activation code.
    2. Enter the activation code that you received via email after you purchased your product.
    3. Click Activate.
  • A license file (for older versions of Avast Antivirus and SecureLine VPN):
    • For older versions of Avast Antivirus:
      1. Scroll to the product you want to activate and click Insert license file.
      2. Locate the license file that you received via email after you purchased your product, and click Open.
      3. Click Activate.
    • For Avast SecureLine VPN:
      1. Scroll to the SecureLine VPN section, and click Insert it here.
      2. Locate the license file that you received via email when you purchased your product, and click Open.
      3. Click Yes to confirm activation.

Notes: If you manually activate Avast Antivirus or an Avast premium product using an activation code, be sure to enter the code into the correct product's field. You can request a copy of your license from your Avast Account (for all products) or via our webform (for Avast Antivirus).

Register your Avast Free Antivirus

Avast Free Antivirus can be used free of charge for home and non-commercial use. To register your Avast Free Antivirus, go to Settings ▸ Subscription and click Register now. You may be offered to select a trial version of a paid Avast Antivirus product. By selecting to continue with Avast Free Antivirus, your registration is complete. Registration in the latest version of Avast does not require you to enter your contact information.

To get the latest version of Avast, update your program version in Settings ▸ Update. If you are unsure which version of Avast you have, you can go to Settings ▸ About to verify this information.

Get a copy of your license

If you did not receive your purchased license or if you experience issues with inserting your license, you can request a copy of your license via our webform with the e-mail address you used during purchase, or download it from your Avast Account registered on the same e-mail address.

Manage automatic renewal

If you have activated the auto-renewal service, your subscription is renewed automatically when your current license is due to expire. You are notified in advance via email.

Troubleshoot issues

If Avast does not accept your license, follow these steps:

  1. Use our webform or your Avast Account to resend your license to the e-mail address used for your purchase and try to insert the license into the program again.
  2. If the license insertion fails, uninstall Avast using the Avast Uninstall Utility and restart your PC.
  3. Download and install the appropriate product version of Avast related to the purchased license.
  4. Once again go to Settings ▸ Subscription try to insert the license into Avast.
