Mail Shield - Behavior

The Mail Shield scans for threats in your incoming and outgoing email messages. This applies to messages sent or received using a mail management software (such as MS Outlook).
Options
Here you can specify how emails are marked, and what actions are carried out during scans.
- Insert note into clean message (incoming) - Mark all clean received messages with a note at the bottom of the text.
- Insert note into infected message (incoming) - Mark all received messages containing malware with a note at the bottom of the text.
- Insert note into clean message (outgoing) - Mark all clean sent messages with a note at the bottom of the text.
- Mark in subject of mail containing a virus: ***VIRUS*** - Mark all messages containing malware in the subject with the note specified.
MS Outlook only
- Show splash screen - An Avast splash screen is displayed briefly when MS Outlook is launched to confirm that the Mail Shield is running.
- Scan attachment when attaching - Attachments are scanned when they are attached and not when they are sent.
- Scan archived messages when opening - Check this box to scan archive messages. You can specify that this applies only to unread messages.
