Firewall

Manage this feature at: Menu ▸ Tools ▸ Firewall

The firewall monitors all communication between your computer and the outside world and prevents unauthorized communications or intrusions. IPv6 networks are supported.

Choose a security profile (mode) for the current network by clicking on the slider.

Private

For better connectivity, this mode is recommended when your computer is connected to a home/private network. The firewall allows all communication with the network.

Public

For higher security, this mode is recommended when your computer is connected to a public network, for example in cafes or airports. No incoming communication is allowed.

You can manage firewall functionality in the settings for:

Disabling the Firewall

To disable the firewall completely click Turn off in the top of the screen and select the length of time you want to stop the service.

Generally this is not recommended unless you have another firewall running. However, in some cases you may need to disable the firewall temporarily, e.g., to install certain applications or test whether an application is being blocked.
